Jigsaw Visitors’ Centre manages the Play Area in the Visits Room. We know that visiting with children can be extremely stressful and we hope that having our dedicated Play Workers provide activities for your children during your visit will mean bringing your children to HMP Leeds is an easier and more enjoyable experience. The Play Area gives you time to talk as adults at the table, and an opportunity for children to use up some energy. We know from talking to you, and from statistics about how many children visit, that families are more likely to visit when we can provide this service.
The Play Area is open to all children during school holidays and at weekends.
We are delighted to announce a new project that means the Play Area will be in use during term time too. This is the “Families That Play Together” project, a unique opportunity for Dads in HMP Leeds to spend family time with their children (and the children’s Mother/Carer) in the Play Area rather than at the tables. Visitors or prisoners need to apply for space with this project in advance. Look out for leaflets and posters in the Visitors Centre and HMP Leeds or ask our Family Support Workers for more information.
