To book a visit – and to visit a prisoner by yourself – you must be over 18 years of age. You can book by telephone, or in person, at the Prison at the times set out above.
Booking your visit by email
You can now book your visit by email. We hope this makes booking an easier and more simple process, as well as freeing up the telephone lines. Please note you can still book your visit by phone.
- For Email Bookings please follow the instructions carefully.
- Email
. - Enter the prison number, name and date of birth of the person you wish to visit.
- Enter your name, date of birth, address and relationship to the prisoner.
- Also put this information for anyone else wishing to visit with you (up to 3 adults, over 10, per visit).
- Ensure that names and dates of births of all children (under 10) are included.
- Make sure you include the time and date of your visit. (48hrs notice is required for all visits).
- Include Visiting Order Reference Number.
This email address is for booking only and no other correspondence.
If the prisoner is convicted
You will be sent a Visiting Order after your name and address are given to the prison by the prisoner. You then need to book a visit either face to face or by telephone on the usual number. If you want to visit, make sure that the person in prison has your full name and address so you can be sent a Visiting Order.
If the prisoner is on remand
You can telephone the Booking Office anytime during opening hours and arrange your visit. On arrival at the Visitors Centre you will complete a Visiting Order. When booking your visit, for both remand and convicted prisoners, you will be given a Booking Office Reference Number. You must bring that number with you or you won’t be allowed to go in to the prison.
Visit entitlement
The Prison runs a privilege scheme ‘IEPS’ which stands for Incentive Earned Privilege Scheme. This scheme affects prisoners in different ways, linked to:
- The work they can do
- The property they can have
- How much money they can spend at the Canteen
- The number of visits that they are allowed.
All prisoners start off on Standard privileges. They can be moved up to ‘Enhanced’ level, or down to ‘Basic’ level.
Convicted visits entitlement
