Travel Directions to the Jigsaw Visitors' Centre
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
From near the train station or Leeds bus
station
buses which directly pass the prison are the numbers 72 & 508 ask to get
off at Gloucester Terrace, Armley. From near
the Town Hall/ Courts area you will need the number 73. Adult fare is
approximately £1.20. As a rough guide, buses arrive around every 10 minutes,
and the journey time from the city centre takes about 10 minutes if traffic is
clear.
From Bradford Interchange: the 72 bus leaves every
half hour and will drop you off directly across the road from the prison, on
its way into Leeds City Centre. The journey takes approximately 35 – 45 minutes
depending on traffic. (The X6 bus which leaves from the same stop as the 72 and
says Leeds on it does NOT stop at Armley, it is a
limited stop service straight to Leeds)
From Halifax: the 508 bus leaves
approximately every half hour and goes through Shelf, Odsal, Tyersal,
Stanningley, Bramley then Armley. It will drop you off directly opposite the
prison on its way to Leeds city centre. The journey
from Halifax takes 1 hour
depending on traffic.
From Pudsey: the 73 bus leaves Pudsey
bus station approximately every half hour and goes through Stanningley, Bramley
then Armley. It will drop you off directly opposite the prison on its way to Leeds city centre.
The journey takes approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic.
TRAVELLING BY
ROAD
A useful map
appears on another page. There is very limited car parking and it is always difficult
to find anywhere to park. DO NOT leave valuables in your car.
BY TAXI
Taxi’s are
approximately £4 from Leeds city centre (railway area)
to the Jigsaw Visitors’ Centre. There is also a taxi phone direct through to
Stanningley Cars at The Jigsaw Visitors’ centre for your convenience.
